Use the source that can establish the fact.
| Priority | Source type | Use on this site |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Statute / regulation / official regulator | Legal limits, licensing requirements, consumer protections and complaint routes. |
| 2 | Verified current first-party / provider document | Product-specific terms, actual offer mechanics and current operational facts. |
| 3 | Official entity / registry record | Corporate status, historical dates and public identifiers. |
| 4 | Current local-business listing | Time-sensitive address, phone and public location details; rechecked before use. |
| 5 | Reputable independent secondary source | Context and corroboration — not the sole authority for material legal or product claims. |
A lower-tier source is not used to override a stronger current primary source. Search-result snippets, directories and archived pages can generate leads, but material legal/product claims are anchored to the strongest available evidence.
What gets checked before a material claim is published.
Amount limits, fee rules, terms, repayment protections, provider role, licensing references, location data and data-sharing statements require a source appropriate to the claim. Search-result snippets and competitor marketing can help identify questions, but they are not treated as legal or licensing proof.
Current and historical records remain separate. An archived phone number, employee, corporation status or product description is not automatically published as current.
Calculators show assumptions and formulas.
The payday calculator labels its Florida single-payment assumptions. The installment calculator models a fixed-rate monthly amortization example and does not turn that model into a provider quote. Calculator outputs are educational comparisons, not credit decisions.
When a formula, state rule or provider-specific input changes materially, the affected tool and explanatory text should be rechecked together.
No fabricated expert-review claims.
A page should name an author, reviewer, professional credential or first-hand testing claim only when that person, role and review process are genuinely documented. The site does not create an “expert reviewed” badge merely for appearance.
Regulated facts are sourced to primary materials, but source checking is not a substitute for individualized legal or financial advice.
Corrections and freshness.
A substantive correction should record the affected page, the claim or calculation changed, the evidence that changed it and the review date. Dates should move when material content is rechecked, not as a cosmetic freshness signal.
Readers can use the Contact page to report a factual issue without sending sensitive identity or account information.
Different facts age at different speeds.
| Fact type | Refresh trigger used by the site |
|---|---|
| Florida statute / regulator rule | Recheck after legislative/regulatory changes and before a material refresh of a state/product page. |
| Regulator / CFPB consumer guidance | Recheck on material content updates and when the source changes. |
| Local address / phone / public listing | Recheck before publishing a location-sensitive update because local details can change quickly. |
| Corporate/entity status | Recheck before presenting historical/current identity claims. |
| Provider offer terms / underwriting | Do not preserve as “current” from an old page; verify against the actual provider/offer at the time of use. |
| Calculator assumptions | Show the inputs/formula and update any law-driven defaults when the governing source changes. |
Commercial relationships do not override factual standards.
If the live loan-application process involves application compensation or third-party recipients, the relevant relationship and consent must be disclosed where the user makes that decision. A paid relationship does not convert a provider’s marketing claim into independent evidence.
Links to regulators, consumer resources and directories are references, not endorsements of Catapult Funding.
